“Night of Nights” – When Our Trainees Take the Helm!
What happens when you hand over an entire event to a bunch of motivated trainees? Exactly — either complete chaos or a masterpiece of event technology. At VERANTEC, of course, we’re all about the latter. And that’s what makes our trainee project “Night of Nights” so special.
On February 22, 2025, the multipurpose hall in Unterpleichfeld transformed into a carnival hotspot — technically planned, executed, and managed by our young talents. From the very first CAD plan to the last case moved: everything was in trainee hands.
Full Access for the Trainees – with a Few Restrictions
To make sure things don’t get completely out of hand (and we don’t end up in the dark), there are exactly two fixed rules:
- Only the existing power distribution may be used — a real reality check for energy management and load distribution.
- Only one 40-ton semi-truck is available — clever packing is half the battle. If you mismanage, you end up moving the cases yourself.
Other than that, it’s full speed ahead for creative setups! The trainees take care of:
- Technical planning: From power plugs to speakers, everything must be planned play-ready using a modular system — theory meets practice.
- Logistics: What equipment needs to be loaded when, where, and in what order? Who moves which cases and when?
- Personnel and shift planning: Even a team needs breaks — unless they forgot to schedule themselves.
- Rigging, lighting & sound: Setting up, patching, programming — there’s a trade for everyone.
- Show support: Showtime on Saturday night means: If you plan it, you also have to deliver it.
Experienced former trainees take on the role of project leaders. They pass on their knowledge, ensure a smooth workflow, and act as points of contact — but no hand-holding allowed. The old pros? This time, they’re only scheduled as “hands” and let themselves be bossed around for one evening. Don’t worry, though — when it comes to safety-critical tasks like load handling or static constructions, fun stops here — zero tolerance for errors.
From Planning to the Last Cable Bridge
The atmosphere? Electric! The anticipation? Huge! Days in advance, our trainees’ brains are already buzzing: Which lighting moods work best? Which PA configuration delivers the perfect sound?
And then the moment arrives:
- Friday: Setup, calibration, first programming of the lighting system
- Saturday: Soundcheck, doors open, party, show — and afterwards? Tear down? Of course not. First, a moment to breathe!
- Sunday: Dismantle, clean up, pack everything neatly, load the truck, and call it a day.
- Debrief: What went well? Where were the hiccups? Which ideas can be taken into next year?
And here’s the clever part: This year’s trainees will be next year’s project leaders. Experience is the best teacher, and at VERANTEC, there’s no better preparation for the job than this live trial by fire.
Why do we do it? Because it works!
The “Night of Nights” isn’t just a carnival party — it’s a true highlight of our training program. This is where you see who has what it takes to manage an entire event.
And the result? A perfectly planned, smoothly running, and technically sophisticated show!
We’re all already looking forward to the Night of Nights 2026!
