40 Years of HELLOWEEN – and a sound that hits the mark every night

In the live music business, 40 years of band history isn’t just an anniversary—it’s the kind of milestone that rarely happens and has to go off without a hitch.

HELLOWEEN toured Europe in the fall of 2025 with the “40 Years Anniversary Tour” – kicking off on October 17, 2025, in Luxembourg, with the finale in German-speaking countries, including Stuttgart.

And the numbers speak the language we love most in the tech world: 21 shows, 16 countries, 14,117 kilometers – over 150,000 fans.

A quick rundown: Who is HELLOWEEN?

If (melodic) power metal had a required reading list, HELLOWEEN would be near the top. Since the ’80s, the Hamburg-based band has been an integral part of the scene and has shaped generations of bands and fans. The anniversary kicks off with the early releases around “Walls Of Jericho” (1985) and yet makes it clear: The band is anything but nostalgia. With the album “Giants & Monsters,” released on August 29, 2025, it becomes clear: The anniversary is not a museum, but the start of the next chapter.

VERANTEC on tour – but transparent: not as a tour service provider

Important, before any misunderstandings arise: VERANTEC is not the overall technical service provider for this tour.
Our connection to the “40 Years Anniversary Tour” runs through one person, and that person is on tour where it matters most to the band: at the monitor desk. Everything in his work area is supplied by VERANTEC.

Flo Schauer, our technical director at VERANTEC, has been accompanying HELLOWEEN on tour as a monitor engineer for over 10 years, working closely with the band and building a close relationship with the guys over the years.

In concrete terms: VERANTEC is present through Flo and his expertise in the audio field. With know-how, experience, and a great deal of responsibility behind the scenes.

What does a Head of Audio actually do on a tour like this?

  • Patching, input lists, miking, and signal flow: from stage box to FOH. Including eliminating potential issues before they become apparent during the show.
  • Constant refinement of the microphone setup to ensure the best results in the mixes.
  • Troubleshooting under live conditions: when there’s crackling, dropouts, or something suddenly sounds off, you need someone who thinks systematically.
  • And most importantly: perfect monitor sound directly in the artists’ ears

The result: a touring sound with a signature that doesn’t sound like a coincidence, but rather like control, routine, and experience. Stable, clean through the PA, and reliable in every venue.

Trust as a “silent rider”

On tour, a lot depends on technology, but almost everything depends on trust. When an artist knows that the audio, processes, and communication are in place, it creates the peace of mind needed on stage to deliver 100%.

The fact that Flo has been part of this system for over a decade is an advantage for everyone involved: clear standards, direct lines of communication, sound decisions, and a collaboration where everyone can rely on one another. Flo returns this trust one-to-one. Every day, every show.

And how does VERANTEC benefit from this?

Quite pragmatically: When our Technical Director works on the most demanding tour setups worldwide, this know-how flows directly back into our projects.

  • Best practices from touring workflows: well-rehearsed processes, redundancies, smooth hand-offs
  • Up-to-date practical knowledge from changing venues: acoustics, rig variations, crew interfaces
  • A reputation in the scene: built not on slides, but on delivered shows

The bottom line: What works on tour worldwide also works for our projects.

The next leg: Japan, South America, and festivals in Europe in 2026

Europe is done; the tour story continues. Scheduled for May 2026 are dates in Japan, followed by festivals across Europe throughout the summer
and then South America in late summer, from Mexico City through Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, and Buenos Aires to São Paulo.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for Flo and everyone involved on the upcoming legs and are thrilled that VERANTEC gets to be a small part of this amazing production through him.
